Three importers of luxury cars to Canada have announced the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices on several new models.
BMW Canada has priced its M3 Coupe at $69,800. That includes the 3.25-litre engine that puts out 333 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, the 6-speed manual gearbox, Nappa leather, and an in-dash cassette player. Major options include the navigation system with Canada-wide CD for $3,900, a high-gloss shadow line for $795, and rear side airbags for $525.
The Lexus division of Toyota Canada says its LS430 model, which was completely revised for 2001, will carry an MSRP of $80,000, which includes a great deal of goodies and the powerful new 4.3-litre V8. The big job in price is to the model with the Premium Package, since that is $92,300. With everything included, the LS430 tops out at $94,500.
The new Lexus V8 will also go in a slightly revised GS430 model for 2001, with prices for this unit starting at $68,500. That includes the sunroof and the 16-inch wheels. To get the roof, a spoiler and a Mark Levinson audio system, you have to come up with $71,300. For the roof, the spoiler, the Mark Levinson sound system and chrome wheels, it's $72,700.
Against those prices the stickers on the 2001 Mercedes-Benz C-class lineup seem quite reasonable. Every C-class gets side curtain airbags, Electronic Stability Program, and Brake Assist, among many other features.
