The new MINI John Cooper Works will make its world debut next month at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the company announced. Also on display will be the new MINI 5 Door, the latest additions to the program of MINI Yours special equipment features as well as the MINI Superleggera Vision concept.

The new MINI John Cooper Works gets the most powerful engine ever installed in one of the brand's serial production models, namely a 2.0L 4-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine that produces 228 horsepower (39 more than the Cooper S) and 236 lb-ft of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. Power is transferred to the front wheels via a standard 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with paddle shifters. With the Countryman and Paceman models, however, power is transferred to all four wheels by way of MINI's aptly named ALL4 system.

Exterior highlights include a sport-tuned suspension, Brembo sport brakes, exclusive John Cooper Works light-alloy wheels, the John Cooper Works aero kit, and particularly large air inlets on the front section of the vehicle.

Inside the new, roomier MINI John Cooper Works, you'll find new John Cooper Works sport seats with integrated headrests, a model-specific upholstery in Dinamica/fabric, and the colour Carbon Black. The new seats are also available in a Dinamica/Carbon Black leather version. Furthermore, the car comes standard with MINI Driving modes, which allow configuration of an individual setup. A full, expanded range of driver assistance systems is also available including Head-Up Display.

When will the new MINI John Cooper Works hit the market? How much will it cost? Look for MINI to make an announcement in the coming weeks.
