Audi is announcing the next generation of its Multimedia Interface (MMI), first to appear in the brand's A8 flagship sedan.
Among the many upgrades over the last generation, the new MMI benefits from a faster processor and features a 40 Gig hard drive capable of storing over 4,000 songs. The control dial, located on the center console, can be moved in 8 different positions; drivers can also rotate or click it. With all these possibilities, using the system is now easier than ever.
MMI 2.0 also includes a new LCD screen with a resolution of 800x480, allowing 3D maps to be displayed in navigation mode. In some cities, buildings and inclines will be shown with a 3D perspective. The navigation system will always offer three route options, including one with fuel economy in mind.
Following the A8, the next-generation MMI will make its debut in the A6 midsize sedan and the all-new Q5 compact SUV.
