The next generation of the all-electric Volkswagen e-Golf, unlike its predecessor, will be sold in Canada starting in mid-2017. The German automaker confirmed the good news shortly after the car’s world premiere at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show.
With a full charge of its new 35kWh lithium-ion battery (the old one had a capacity of 24 kWh), the Volkswagen e-Golf coming to Canada will reportedly offer a range in excess of 200 kilometres. It also boasts a more powerful electric motor that generates more torque (the exact figures have yet to be announced), which will result in livelier acceleration.
Aesthetically, the new Volkswagen e-Golf will be the first Golf to benefit from design changes to the front and rear, such as new LED lights and restyled bumpers. Inside, look for a next-generation infotainment system with more connectivity than ever before. Additionally, several cold-weather features will come standard in the Canadian model.
