Some track presidents will go the extra mile to provide good entertainment for their loyal ticket buyers. New Hamsphire’s Jerry Gappens is no exception.
He flew the 715 miles from Manchester, NH to the Mooresville, NC race shop of JR Motorsports to try to personally invite Danica Patrick to run the New England 200 on an open weekend, off the IndyCar circuit at his track.
As an inducement he brought 20 lbs of lobsters to tempt the JR Motorsports crew to enter her at the track which approximately 60 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts.
"I wanted Danica, Kelley Earnhardt, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to know how much the race fans in the Northeast are looking forward to seeing her compete," said Gappens.
"I brought along a little enticement (the lobsters) to show everyone what a wonderful overall experience it is to race at 'The Magic Mile', and I think it may have worked.
Tony Eury, Jr. (Danica's Crew Chief) is excited to feed his team fresh New England lobster."
