Conquest Racing had made the transition yesterday and, today Walker Racing and Newman/Haas/Lanigan have all confirmed officially that they are also joining the IRL series for 2008.
All nine former Champ Car teams turned up for meeting in Indianapolis today and others are expected to follow in the path of the three others.
If every team were to make the switch, it would mean an additional 16 cars and drivers which, in addition to the IRL's 15 entries, would give the series a record 31 cars.
Since the Champ Car contingent has not raced on ovals for a couple of years, they will also be paired with an existing IRL team for technical support.
An official press conference to discuss the unification will be held on Wednesday in Miami.
