Nissan’s compact commercial vehicle, called the NV200, will soon be sold as an electric vehicle. The NV200-based EV should be offered worldwide, and global proving tests will begin this month in order to evaluate the vehicle’s capabilities in several markets.

The first phase will be carried out in Japan; for two months in the city of Yokohama, a test vehicle will be lent to the Japan Post Service Co. to carry out postal collection and delivery tasks. Following the first test, the electric NV200 will pursue its evaluation with other companies in Japan and Europe.

“We will certainly reflect the customer feedback gained from these proving tests in our future product development, and I expect that our commercial electric vehicles based on the NV200 will contribute to our customers' business and to the development of a sustainable society", said Nissan Corporate Vice President Hideto Murakami, responsible for the Global LCV Business Unit.

A couple of months ago, Nissan announced that the city of New York chose the NV200 as their next-generation taxi. The vehicle currently is on sale in about 40 countries including, while future launches are planned for the US and India.

The electric NV200 is another step in Nissan’s plans to become the leader in zero emissions as well as spreading the use of electric vehicles and promoting sustainable mobility.
