A system that keeps your vehicle from wandering into another lane when your attention wanders could be just as useful a safety device as one that stopped you from plowing into the back of a vehicle ahead of you for the same reason.

But there was that moment of jet-lagged inattention to make me see the upside of technologies that also do raise driver responsibility issues, and it's good news for you that Nissan is about the sixth firm to showcase these systems.
It means that such devices will start to turn up on high-volume vehicles from Nissan and, undoubtedly, other companies in the near future, as well as on big-ticket cars, and that means more vehicles with more safety devices, and that's surely a good thing.
