Nissan calls it "an ultimate supercar enjoyable to anyone, anywhere at any time". They're talking about the new GT-R performance car which is setting up to turn the market on its head. With a 480-horsepower engine and revolutionary new design, Nissan's latest goes on sale in Japan in a few weeks.

Don't let its crushing 3.8-litre twin-turbo heart or advanced all-wheel drive powertrain setup intimidate you. Nissan says this is a 365-day-a-year supercar which can be thrilling to the novice driver or seasoned racer alike.

The powerful engine's output is harnessed by a six-speed dual-clutch transmission for fast shifting and optimized performance. A Borg Warner six-plate dual-clutch is installed for direct control, and the entire package rides on a Billstein DampTronic active suspension system.

Styled after natural environmental elements like wind, gravity and inertial force, the GT-R employs a completely new design which maximizes grip and airflow, adding to its performance. The entire package is assembled with meticulous attention to detail in a state of the art facility.

Nissan has also set up some state of the art facilities to service the new GT-R as well. Nissan High Performance Centres employ skilled technicians who have received special training on the new vehicle, and offer total support to owners. Adjustments to engine, transmission and alignment are free for the first three years.

In all, it looks like the new GT-R is going to cause quite a stir. Who knows--maybe it will also coax some type of high-performance machinery out of Honda and Toyota as well.

Base price in Japan is expected to 7,770,000 yen, or roughly $66,000 CDN. The GT-R should be on sale in Canada during 2008.
