generation car boasts a stiffer body and has the goal of being one of the best performing large front-drive sedans available globally.

The 2007 Altima goes on sale this week at Nissan dealerships across the country, and competitive pricing was recently released by the carmaker.

The starting price of $24,398 represents a $400 decrease from the 2006 model, though it boasts enhanced styling, technology and features over the former machine. Power comes from a refined and capable 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine hooked up with a six-speed manual gearbox.

MSRP $400 less than the model it replaces - despite the new exterior and interior design, enhanced handling and performance, user-friendly technology and numerous other refinements," said Ian Forsyth, Director, Corporate and Product Planning for Nissan.

For performance buffs, a 3.5 litre V6 engine is also available. Starting price for a 3.5S model with CVT transmission is a respectable $28,798. A six-speed transmission is also available with the 3.5 SE package, priced at $30,198.

An environmentally friendly hybrid model is set to go on sale in selected markets early next year.
