We all know that the GT-R is a real beast, both on the road and at the track. Nissan has dreamed up a creative and unusual marketing scheme to entice Porsche drivers to give it a whirl and succumb to its charms.
The employees of TBWA, an agency based in Düsseldorf, Germany, combed the streets looking for as many Porsches as they could find. On each identified vehicle they placed an adhesive film giving the driver and passengers a view of the GT-R – from the back.
The picture creates the impression that you’re being left behind by the GT-R, and the message is clear: if you want to dominate the road, ditch the Porsche.
The results of the stunt are revealing: two weeks later, the number of GT-R test drive requests had increased by 23%.
Incontrovertible proof that using original communication channels can be very worthwhile indeed, particularly in the fiercely competitive automotive world. Way to go Nissan.
