Ford is currently garnering a lot of interest for the "Personal Consultant" program that its Lincoln Mercury arm is unveiling in the United States, but there are no plans to bring the service to Canada.

Lincoln Mercury recently expanded the program after a successful trial launch, so that now more Americans can use the "Personal Consultant" to obtain product information, arrange test drives, secure a price quote, and even arrange for vehicle delivery from their dealer of choice.

The "Personal Consultant" service is staffed by a group of "product specialists" who communicate with Internet customers via e-mail or telephone, depending on the customer's preference, and respond to requests within 24 hours. There is no fee for the service.

John Arnone of Ford of Canada says the Oakville operation "will continue to evolve its Website, however, and opportunities to connect with our customers will certainly grow."
