On November 18th at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, Porsche will introduce a near-standard racing version of the Cayman GT4 called Clubsport. Sales of this mid-engine racer for motorsport newcomers will also start on this date.
A 3.8L flat-six engine producing 385 horsepower is mated to a Porsche double-clutch transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The lightweight suspension strut front axle is taken from the 911 GT3 Cup. Weighing only 1,300 kg, the car also features an impressive racing brake system with steel brake discs all around measuring 380 mm in diameter. Other highlights include a welded-in safety cage, a racing bucket seat, as well as a six-point harness.
FYI, the new Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport will be homologated for racing series such as the Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, Pirelli World Challenge, Continental Tire Sports Challenge, Pirelli GT3 Trophy USA, and events held by the Porsche Club of America.
Orders for the new Cayman GT4 Clubsport can be placed with Porsche Motorsport North America.
