9:15 AM - Porsche has made several announcements this morning, concerning their recently introduced models.

The Stuttgart-based automaker said that their updated 2005 Boxster will be available in the USA next week, so we can assume that Canadian will also get them shortly. Furthermore, the new 911 Cabriolet will be available with the same 3.6- and 3.8-litre engines as its coupe counterpart. The new top is designed with ultra-light materials, which means that the convertible model will not be penalised performance-wise compared with the hardtop coupe. This was not the case for the outgoing 996 Cabriolet.

Both the new Boxster and 911 return to 993 styling cues; specifically the separated headlamps and turn signals. Both are treated to new revised body panels, bumpers and wheels.

Porsche also announced that during the course of late spring or summer, they will seriously study the possibility of developing and with whom, a hybrid version of their Cayenne.

They also mentioned that 4 or 5 new models or variations of existing models would be launched within the next year. Among them, we can hope for a new 911 Targa.

The Carrera GT continues to impress physically and emotionally. One of its most liked attributes is the fact that Porsche has stuck to a conventional manual gearbox instead of a sequential shift semi-automatic transmission.
