Porsche has lifted the veil on the all-new 2012 911 Carrera and Carrera S convertibles, both set to hit Canadian dealerships next spring.
The rejuvenated 911s have kept the sleek lines typical of the model, and thanks to the magnesium used in their soft-top folding mechanism, they’re lighter than ever.
The 911 Carrera Convertible is powered by a 350 hp, 6-cylinder engine, while the more athletic Carrera S Convertible calls on the services of a 400 hp, 3.8L mill.
In both cases, a 7-speed manual transmission dispatches power to the rear wheels. Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch autobox will be available as an option.
Both cars have a longer wheelbase and wider front track, and an electro-mechanical power steering system makes both more nimble and precise machines on the road.
The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S convertibles will start at $106,900 and $123,000 respectively.
