Porsche has just revealed the all-new 2016 Cayman GT4 ahead of its world premiere in early March at the Geneva Motor Show. It will arrive at Canadian dealers in the third quarter of 2015 with pricing starting at $96,500.
This is the first time Porsche is introducing a GT sports car based on the Cayman with components of the 911 GT3. The 2016 Cayman GT4 is powered by a 3.8L flat-6 engine (derived from the 911 Carrera S) that produces 385 horsepower via a 6-speed manual gearbox with dynamic mounts. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds; its top speed is 295 km/h.
The chassis, which features a 30mm lower body position and generously sized brakes, consists nearly entirely of components from the 911 GT3. Three distinctive inlet openings at the front and a large fixed rear wing are part of an aerodynamic package which is systematically designed for downforce. Meanwhile, the interior of the 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 features sport seats upholstered in a combination of leather and Alcantara, plus a new GT4 sport steering wheel.
Options include the PCCB ceramic brake system, seat shells made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), as well as a custom Sport Chrono Package.
