Portico opens up family transport for Hyundai

Both front and rear seats are power-operated, while the rear seats get a DVD-based entertainment center. For their entertainment, the driver and front passengers can share a navigation screen and overhead console, providing key road and vehicle information.

Portico is powered by Hyundai's Lambda 24-valve V-6 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that Butterfield says will soon be offered in Hyundai's production vehicles.

Hyundai's hybrid drive system will also fit in Portico, and that features two electric motors -- one driving the front wheels and a second driving the rear wheels, providing all-wheel-drive capability.

Front power is supplied by a 136-hp electric motor, while an 83-hp motor powers the rear wheels.

Portico is 5,000 mm long on a 3,070-mm wheelbase, and 2,000 mm wide.
