Subaru Canada says that it's lowered the MSRP on its Forester lineup to make it especially attractive when compared to their competition. The small SUV / Wagon crossover boasts a number of improvements this year, including a small increase in size.
"The new 2009 Forester is only about three inches longer than the previous model, which allowed Subaru engineers to package a roomier interior with the trim exterior contours that owners tell us is one of this vehicle's essential features," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, president and CEO of Subaru Canada. "In addition, the all-new platform and chassis systems enhance the outstanding on-road handling and maneuverability that have been Forester hallmarks since the model's inception."
Standard features include heated seats, air conditioning, telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, and of course symmetrical all wheel drive.
Pricing starts at $25,795 for a Forester 2.5X- representing a $1,200 price drop since last year. The Touring model starts at $27,995, while the top-line Limited model opens the bidding at $32,395- or $3,700 less than the previous model. The turbocharged 2.5 XT Limited model is priced from $34,895.
An added bonus for safety conscious buyers, the 2009 Forester was just named to the 'Top Pick' list the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Forester achieved top marks in crash testing and is also equipped with stability control, both of which are criteria for the award.
"The performance of the Forester underscores Subaru's commitment to delivering state-of-the-art safety to its customers," said IIHS President Adrian Lund. "You don't know what kind of crash you're going to be in. That's why it's important to choose a vehicle that will protect you in all kinds of crashes. The Top Safety Pick designation is intended to help people find the safest choices."
