PSA Peugeot Citroën and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation are negotiating a partnership to combine their respective expertise with the goal of developing a new electric powertrain for small urban vehicles.
PSA is a major player in the electric car market. The French auto group currently sells more than 10,000 units worldwide.
Mitsubishi, meanwhile, is looking to establish itself as a leader in electric car manufacturing. In 2009, the Japanese automaker plans on selling the Mitsubishi i MiEV on a domestic scale. Opportunities for the European market are also being considered.
