Canadian rally stars Antoine L'Estage and Nathalie Richard kicked-off 2012 with a second place in Rally America's opening round – the Sno*Drift Rally.
However cold the Sno*Drift may be, for the Rockstar Energy Dring rally team, it served the purpose of a warm-up. Their Canadian season starts in less than a week, with the presentation of the Rallye Perce-Neige in Maniwaki, Qc.
In Michigan for the Sno*Drift, L'Estage and Richard only gave way to their reigning Rally America nemesis. They finished in second place, behind Dave Higgins and his co-driver Craig Drew.
"It's a great way for us to start the season," said L'Estage in an official press release. "Our new car didn't miss a beat and we opened 2012 with a podium. It's looking good for the championship."
Sno*Drift's particularly icy conditions, left L'Estage and Richard hungry for more snow. And they might just get a lot of it in Maniwaki.
"Perce-Neige's stages are said to be snowy this year," pointed Richard out. "We want to make the most of it, because we plan on keeping our 2011 [Canadian Rally Championship] crown."
