Jari-Matti Latvala is rumoured to be joining Sébastien Ogier as part of the Volkswagen WRC squadron next season, while the German car manufacturer could run a third car next year.
Volkswagen may enter two Polo R WRCs early next season, to add a third car at one point during the season. As Jari-Matti Latvala may be leaving team Ford M-Sport soon, he is the main favorite to drive the second work Polo-R alongside Ogier.
VW also considers the idea oif running a third car. Andreas Mikkelsen, Skoda's driver in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (he clinched the title last season) seems to be in a good position to drive this car.
However, but Dani Sordo could also drive his third car.
Sébastien Ogier said that he would be please to see the Spaniard joining him at Volkswagen. “He has the advantage of being available immediately,” Ogier said.
“If we can have a guy who can quickly push the car to its limits in testing, it would will be great. In addition, Dani is vastly experienced. He drove for MINI, Ford, and he knows team Citroen very well” Ogier added.
Sordo could also on his way to Ford M-Sport. He already ran for the team earlier this season when he replaced the injured Jari-Matti Latvala. Other rumours say that Ford will simply withdraw from World Rally Championship next season.
