Saab says their 9-X BioHybrid concept appeals to youthful buyers of the future after an aggressive and fun to drive package that delivers responsible performance.
The atmospherically friendly compact premium model was on display at the Geneva Motor Show, where it was voted Best Concept by the editors of Auto Week. As a brand, Saab is known for some interesting concept models, including the popular Aero X Coupe, which won an award from Auto Week at a previous show.
"After its stunning performance in Geneva, we can't wait to show the 9-X BioHybrid to the press and public here in America," said Steve Shannon, General Manager of Saab Automobile USA. "Following in footsteps of the highly inspirational Aero X, as well as the 9-4X BioPower crossover concept that debuted in Detroit just a few weeks ago, the 9-X BioHybrid demonstrates that Saab is truly on the move."
The BioHybrid concept is penned with styling cues from past Saab concepts, but it demonstrates a potential for ultra-efficient power in the near future. It's motivated by a 200 horsepower, 1.4 liter BioPower turbo engine that's attached to GM's next-generation hybrid drive system. The package promises extremely low emissions when running on E85 fuel.
The BioHybrid also features a 'low friction' loading system for cargo in the rear, and enhanced connectivity for personal communication devices. The bodywork is styled with cues from the world of aviation, and features active aerodynamics for optimized efficiency and stability as well.
Saab's 9-X BioHybrid will make its American debut in New York next week.
