the 9-3 Convertible 20 Years Edition, commemorating two decades and 240,000 units worth of 'four seasons, four seater' convertibles. Like the first 900 Convertible that debuted during the spring of 1986 in North America, this latest Saab convertible is a unique bundle of turbocharged performance, safety and luxury.

The 20 Years Edition is based on the 9-3 Aero Convertible, which starting in 2006 gains the new, Holden-designed 2.8 litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The old 210 horsepower range-topper now serves the lower 2.0t convertible. Developing a lag-free 250 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque, buyers have a choice between a six-speed manual or a more relaxed five-speed automatic. Whichever transmission is chosen, the 9-3 20 Years is the perfect way to enjoy open skies, taking just seven seconds to reach 100 km/h.

A number of different features will help distinguish the 20 Years Edition from other 9-3 Convertibles. The main difference is in appearance; the car has special Electric Blue metallic paint, 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, and a Parchment sports leather interior with matching roof. This special model also features rear park assist, convertible-tuned ventilation for optimal heating and cooling when the roof is down, as well as the Touring package that includes an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and rain sensing wipers.

The most popular Saab drop-top to date, the new 9-3 Convertible sells nearly 19,000 units per year, and is a leader in the premium convertible segment. This refined and accomplished convertible claims a market segment of up to 30 percent - an impressive feat for any automaker to claim, particularly a low-volume firm such as Saab. Production of this commemorative drop-top is limited, with 300 units being allocated for North America. Sales will commence spring, 2006, with a price tag of $44,615 USD (equal to $52,181 CAD). Actual Canadian pricing will be announced closer to its launch date.
