PKV Racing announced on Thursday that Oriol Servia will drive for the team in this year's Champ Car World Series.

The Spanish driver, who started two races for the team at the end of 2007, and raced for them full-time the year before, is the first driver to be confirmed at the team.

The 33-year old veteran had his best year ever in 2005 when he finished runner-up in the championship while driving for Newman-Haas. He earned also his first and only victory in Montreal the same year.

Team co-owner Jimmy Vasser stated "Oriol, who is not only one of the most experienced and best drivers in the series, but also a good friend, gives us the best chance to contend for the championship."

The team plan to race two cars in 2008, and they are expecting to make a decision on their second seat following a series of driver evaluations.
