The Crossfire Coupe and Roadster SRT-6
The SRT6s are those that marked me the most, the Coupe especially. The cabin is snug and cozy and very Mercedes. The seats are well fitting and supportive. They could be somewhat narrow for some however they hold the occupants firmly in place. As is usually the case, I found the Coupe to feel more rigid than the Roadster although 6 laps on t
he track left no doubts in my mind that it is nonetheless exceptionally unyielding.
The supercharged 3.2L V6, straight out of the SLK32 on which the car is largely based, develops 330 hp and 310 lb/ft of torque. The beauty about the blower is that it is always "on". This means immediate power to the wheels at all times. The 5-speed automatic transmission with Autostick is a little lazy when left to its own devices. The manual mode requires only a flick to the left or right to change gear without even moving the selector from the drive position. Brakes and handling are spot-on and grant hours of sporty driving.
The 300C and Magnum SRT8
The Magnum is awesome. It combines versatility with ultimate performance. The 300C is the more civilised of the trio which includes the Charger SRT8. They all share the incredibly persuasive 6.1L Hemi V8. It rips out 425 hp and 420 lb/ft of torque. The Magnum, despite the added trunk, feels q
uicker than the 300 in straight-line acceleration. The big V8 ferociously climbs to redline where the 5-speed autobox will crisply upshift to keep you going on your way. On the track, it is clear that the Magnum and 300C are simply too heavy to fully enjoy all the power from the Hemi. The brakes are mighty and backed by a firm, confidence-inspiring pedal.
The SRT8s get supportive racing-bucket style front seats, which supply much-needed lateral support, especially when lapping at high speeds. The interiors and exteriors of both cars are unadorned to give them a stealthier look. SRT has done away with the chrome accents and even decided to polish the wheels instead of chroming them as it adds unnecessary weight.
The Ram SRT10
If there ever was a more badass truck on the planet, it may have been
the Lamborghini LM002 however it was simply to expensive too run. The Ram is purpose built for straight-line racing. SRT did endow the Ram with ultra-wide P305/40R22 Pirelli Scorpion tires, rear Bilstein shocks and modified steering. The Ram is actually agile and does not feel so far out of its element on the track. Super-huge 381 mm (15 inches) front and rear 356 mm (14 inches) discs bring the 500 hp V10 behemoth to a stop without much drama. Its looks on the other hand, have quite the opposite effect.
