MISSISSAUGA, ON, - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) today announced pricing for the all-new 2010 Legacy. As well as being the roomiest, most refined Legacy ever offered, the 2010 model is also available with two new transmissions: a 6-speed manual and a Lineartronic continuously variable (CVT) automatic.

The Legacy lineup for 2010 offers four exceptional sedans:

- the well-equipped 170 horsepower Legacy 2.5i has a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at $23,995 for models with the new 6-speed manual transmission; with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the MSRP is $25,195. The Legacy 2.5i may be further enhanced with Sport and Limited option packages-the Limited package includes the new CVT transmission-and a Limited Package that includes the new Multimedia Option.
- MSRP for the new Legacy PZEV with standard Lineartronic CVT transmission is $26,395.
- the more powerful 265-horsepower turbocharged Legacy 2.5GT with the new 6-speed manual transmission will have an MSRP starting at $38,395.
- the top-of-the-line Legacy 3.6R is equipped with a new 3.6-litre H6 engine that uses regular-grade fuel, and a specially tuned 5-speed SPORTSHIFT automatic transmission with Blipping Control. MSRP starts at $31,895. The 3.6R may also be fitted with the Limited option package and a Limited Package that includes the new Multimedia Option.

"The 2010 Legacy has more of everything drivers want-more performance, more protection, more room, more fuel economy, and more comfort and convenience," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, president and CEO of SCI. "It's a great car at any time-but we think it's going to be an even more attractive choice in these times when drivers and families are looking for the maximum value for every dollar they spend."

One important new convenience is voice-activated mobile phone integration technology for clear communications and hands-free safety and convenience. On the Legacy 3.6R and models equipped with the Sport and Limited Packages, voice-activated Blueconnect eliminates the need for a handheld cell phone, a headset, earpiece, or in-vehicle mounted handset adapter while making or receiving phone calls. Blueconnect automatically recognizes a paired Bluetooth phone when the vehicle is started. After pairing the phone(s) with the system, owners need only place their cell phone anywhere in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. It will automatically connect or transmit to the Blueconnect unit every time it is on, charged, and within range (approximately 10 metres). An additional level of convenience is added to models equipped with the Multimedia Option with touch screen navigation display. In this system, voice-activated Bluetooth technology displays incoming calls from the compatible cell phone on the navigation monitor. Calls can be accessed either through the touch screen monitor, controls on the steering wheel, or via voice activation.

Bigger Platform, More Room

Legacy's all-new platform creates roominess that is comparable to mainstream midsize sedans, with a focus on usable space and long-distance driving comfort. The new Legacy is higher and wider than the previous model, for additional head, shoulder and hip room; the additional rear legroom is enhanced by the scalloped back design of the new front seats. It offers more total passenger room (2,917L or 103 ft(3)) than many competitors and one of the largest trunks (416L or 14.7 ft(3)) in the segment-a significant achievement considering that Legacy's design must also accommodate a rear differential and drive axles.

And, of course, every Subaru is equipped with Symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive. Legacy is the only midsize sedan equipped with this performance- and safety-enhancing system as a standard feature. All Legacy models for 2010 are also equipped with Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), which combines stability and traction control capability. They are also fitted with a standard 4-wheel disc Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist.

The Legacy, like all Subaru models, has consistently earned top scores in government and insurance industry crash tests. The 2010 Legacy is designed to provide even better occupant protection. Subaru's Advanced Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frame safety structure, proven over a decade in all Subaru models, again forms the foundation for crash protection and occupant safety in the new-generation Legacy. Standard equipment includes front seat-mounted side impact air bags, and side curtain air bags that offer additional head protection for front and rear occupants.
