Japanese automaker Subaru is celebrating the production of the 100,000th Partial Zero Emissions vehicle (PZEV) at its Indiana plant as well as the three-year anniversary of its zero landfill status.

Indeed, Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) sends absolutely nothing to a landfill, let alone into the environment. To give you an idea of how strong their commitment is, if this news article was printed and not recycled, it would result in more trash sent to landfills than the entire Subaru manufacturing operations.

All the waste produced at SIA is currently being reused, recycled or converted to electricity for the city of Indianapolis. The site is also a designated backyard wildlife habitat. Deers, coyotes, beavers, blue herons, geese, rabbits, squirrels, meadowlarks, ducks and other animals live in the vicinity of the Subaru plant.

As mentioned earlier, Subaru has now sold 100,000 PZEV Legacy, Outback and Forester models, which have 90-percent cleaner emissions than the average new vehicle. PZEV vehicles are actually the cleanest gasoline-powered vehicles available on today's market.
