Tesla employees are still not represented by a union, but that could change shortly. According to Les Affaires magazine, the United Auto Workers (UAW) and their president, Dennis Williams, have already made contact with some of them at the Fremont, CA assembly plant.
Williams says the plan to unionize Tesla employees remains at a very early stage. It came about as the electric car manufacturer expressed its desire to increase annual production from about 80,000 units last year to 500,000 in 2018 and one million by 2020.
What does Tesla CEO Elon Musk think about that? He previously stated that he wouldn’t oppose a union if such was the wish of Tesla employees.
