Tesla, producer of electric cars, will begin selling its roadster to the public by this November through their first store which will be located on Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles.

This store and future ones which will be located in San Francisco, New York, Chicago and Miami will all be factory owned. Tesla retailers will purposefully be anything but a regular car dealership. Darryl Siry, Tesla's vice president of marketing, says that he wants his stores to have the atmosphere of an Apple store and to help with the aura surrounding the boutiques, they will located away from auto malls.

Tesla's plan is to have plenty of retail presence by 2009 as this is when their sedan, code-named WhiteStar, is expected to arrive. Tesla anticipates selling 1,200 $92,000 roadsters per year. So far, about 400 have been pre-sold.

The EV Roadster will be assembled by engineering partner Lotus Cars in England until a proposed New Mexico plant is built.

No announcements have been made for Canada concerning the availability of Tesla in Canada.
