Despite wandering around for several minutes, I still could not spot Jacques Gravel, Didier Schraenen, the guys of Lombardi Honda or any other big names.
Speaking of Gravel, he finished third in the Touring championship, yet he wasn't even on hand to collect his trophy. Does he have a bit of Gilles Villeneuve in him?
Congratulations to Mathieu Audette and the ''Napoleon'' family
I have to congratulate the Audette family, François ''Napoléon'' Audette, his lovely wife Micheline, and their two sons Mathieu and Rémy (accompanied by their girlfriends). Let's not forget about the team members who were on hand to celebrate the championship won by Mathieu.
Mathieu did so in his very first year at the wheel of a sedan, after winning the 2005 Formula 1600 championship.
With this year's achievements, Mathieu really showcased all of his driving talents. Going from open-wheel racing to a sedan series and winning the championship in his first year is truly remarkable!
The success of Nigel Heron is also worth mentioning. This young driver racing for auto123.com won the Rookie of the Year title. Congratulations, Nigel! We hope to see you back at full speed in 2007 with a slightly more powerful car.
During the evening, I sat at the same table as my friend Marcel Demers (co-director and chief commissioner of the Honda series), his lovely wife Nicole Choquette, Renald Hamelin (founder of the German Challenge series) and his wife Jacinthe as well as Denis Cadotte, Eric and Manon. I apologize for leaving you so many times to go take pictures near the stage.
Finally, I tip my hat to the FSAQ's management while giving them this bit of advice: for the upcoming years, the organisation should be better, especially the press material available to the medias.
It would also be appreciated if there was an appropriate place to take pictures of the winners and their trophies. Last night, it was bad enough that we had to photograph with the giant screen in the background.
Still, I want to thank the FSAQ. See you next year!
