"The retractable aluminum hardtop provides similar versatility in the SC 430. A simple push of one button will raise or lower the roof, while still leaving room in the trunk for a set of golf clubs. The 2+2 layout will offer room in the back seats for small children or extra cargo."
As for the exterior shape, Kovos says the "forward-positioned roof will combine prominent front hood styling and pronounced wheel arches to convey a powerful sense of forward motion. Uncluttered sides will render a classically elegant look, while the stylish design of the head and taillights will also contribute to the luxurious yet sporty attitude."
Most of the attraction of a convertible in any price range is its ability to make its occupants feel cool, and it looks like Lexus has that covered in the SC 430.
But there is also the desire to have more than a little oomph in a car (especially one this pricey), and on this front Lexus also seems well prepared. In keeping with the Lexus custom, the alpha-numeric name implies the engine size, and that means the new convertible will get the 4.3-litre V8 that's going to debut on the LS 430 luxury sedan later this year.
