Lynk & Co 01: A foretaste of the new Volvo XC40
Lynk & Co, the new mass-market automotive brand launched this past fall by Chinese manufacturer Geely, owner of Volvo, will start by producing a small SUV dubbed “01” for its domestic market towards the end of 2017, followed by entries into Europe and North America during the course of 2018. This vehicle is based on a compact modular architecture developed in tandem by Geely and Volvo, and weds a 1.5L gasoline engine to an electric motor. It’s also seen by many observers as the entry-level adjunct to the upcoming XC40 compact crossover from Volvo.
