Cadillac is slowly but surely climbing its way back onto luxury car buyer's shopping lists. To increase the appeal of the cars, Cadillac has a high-performance v-Series. The latest addition to this group, which includes the STS-v and the CTS-v, the XLR-v. The 2006 XLR is a roadster with a retractable hardtop based on the Corvette. Under the long hood of the XLR-v is a supercharged 469 hp 4.4L V8.

Chevrolet Camaro Concept (Photo: General Motors)
The diehard Camaro enthusiast may have something to look forward to. Recently introduced at the 2006 NAIAS, the Camaro Concept is a modern rendition of the classic and very desirable 1969 model. According to GM, this car is purely a concept, however depending on the reaction to the car, we might see one in dealer showrooms sometime in 2008 or 2009. The engine compartment houses a 400 hp 6.0L V8 and 6-speed manual transmission sourced from the Corvette.

The Saturn Aura concept demonstrates the future design direction that will be taken by Saturn. This car will hopefully reintroduce the market to the Saturn brand that has, until the Sky, disappeared into the background. The Aura rides on the Epsilon platform also found on the Pontiac G6 and Chevrolet Malibu. The interior boast rich materials and an appealing design. Hopefully, the production model will follow suit. The Aura concept is powered by a 250 hp 3.6L V6 found in other Buick and Cadillac products. Base models will offer a 3.5L V6 also found in many other GM products.  All Auras will be equipped with a 6 speed automatic transmission.  Availability: next fall.

2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP (Photo: General Motors)
In the 2007 GXP, the Solstice no longer will it only be a looker, it will now have the power and gusto to back up the attitude. The heart of the car is a turbocharged 2.0L inline 4-cylinder that develops 260 hp and 260 lb/ft of torque. Mated to a 5-speed manual, the GXP will rocket to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. Availability: next fall.

Making its way along side the all-new 2007 Tahoe and Escalade is the Suburban. The ultra full-size SUV receives new V8 engines to go with the new smoother, more refined outer shell. The track of the truck is wider and now that it has rack and pinion steering, the whole driving experience should be sharper than on the previous generation.
