Toyota also made a big deal about the new IS model, since it will be the first model wearing the Lexus badge to run on a diesel engine. In keeping with the modern reality of diesel engines, the inline-four in the IS will produce 175 and about 300 lb-ft of torque, "which makes it the most powerful in its displacement class."
Finally, there's the concept LF-A which Lexus has previously said will "express a bold new direction in styling for the brand," and is a "vision closely aligned with the company's Formula One commitment to be superior among its rivals in speed, quickness, agility and reliability.
Stuart Payne, the director responsible for Lexus in Canada, says the Lexus LF-A is "a vision of how we might push the boundaries that define the exotic sportscar landscape and is unlike any vehicle we have ever built."
The LF-A's engine produces more than 500 hp from a displacement of less than five litres, Payne notes, adding that it also has "an exceptionally compact design, with very short front and rear overhangs, and a perfect front-to-rear weight balance, essential to achieving the best possible high speed handling and stability."
