Last week, 20 car manufacturers announced that automatic emergency braking (AEB) technology will become standard on virtually all new vehicles sold in the U.S. by Sept. 1st, 2022. Toyota and Lexus now say they will offer it on 20 of their 25 models by the end of 2017.

In other words, the Toyota Safety Sense system and its Lexus equivalent will be included on all of these vehicles at no extra cost to buyers.

The exceptions are the Lexus GX, Toyota Mirai, Toyota 4Runner, Scion FR-S (soon to be called Toyota 86), and Scion iA. The last two already offer a pre-collision system.
