The Prius is a true pioneer where electric vehicles are concerned and has literally become a green car icon. To celebrate the arrival of the plug-in version of this classic eco-friendly model, Toyota’s American subsidiary has announced the creation of a dedicated ordering website.
The first phase of the Priority Registration initiative was launched today, on Earth day. Eco-minded drivers looking to purchase the new Prius can register for free online and get privileged access to the ordering site when it goes online.
During the second phase they’ll be able to build their own vehicle with any browser, select the dealer of their choice and follow the manufacturing, distribution and delivery of their car in real time.
The initiative was inspired by similar methods successfully used in the past, which were all enthusiastically welcomed by consumers. Only residents of 15 US states will be able to participate next spring, with the program becoming available nationwide one year later.
