Alain Prost (Dacia Lodgy) takes his second victory in Alpe d’Huez, and takes the championship lead back.

On Friday, the four time F1 world champion was dominated by Olivier Panis’ Skoda Fabia and Jean-Philippe Dayraut’s Mini Countryman. But on Saturday, it was Prost’s turn to set the pace in qualifying ahead of Dayraut and Franck Lagorce’s Skoda Fabia.

In his Elite Sup final, Lagorce was able to take the lead away from Prost, but the Dacia driver was still first in overall classification in the second day, ahead of Dayraut, who takes win in the other Elite Sup final, and Lagorce.

Thanks to his win, Prost moves back to first position in provisional championship classification after Alpe d’Huez, only one point ahead of Dayraut. Panis, who was only 9th on Saturday, is a little further back.

Jacques Villeneuve had a tough day on Friday, and it was still difficult for the Canadian driver on day 2. Villeneuve set the 13th best performance in qualifying, and takes 7th position in his Elite Sup final, which put him 13th overall at the end of the day, and 11th in provisional championship classification.
