A bunch of rumors are floating around a week before the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The latest comes from Automotive News Europe, which reports that Toyota is set to unveil a new hybrid-powered (gas-electric) subcompact car, namely a Yaris.
The news follows a similar report by Reuters on September 8th. According to the London-based press agency, production would start next April at the Valenciennes assembly plant, in France.
A future Yaris Hybrid wouldn’t be the only subcompact model to use Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology. Last month, several news outlets in India announced the upcoming launch of a gas-electric variant of the Etios, a small B-segment car specifically designed for the Indian and Chinese markets.
Toyota did confirm through a press release that a hybrid-powered C-segment hatchback will be introduced in Paris, more precisely the Corolla-sized Auris HSD.
