On November 30th, Subaru will kick off the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show on a high note with two world premieres including the production version of the BRZ sports car as well as the ''SUBARU ADVANCED TOURER CONCEPT.''

The latter is a sport-oriented compact wagon that features an innovative exterior design not found in conventional wagon models, the company says.

The SUBARU ADVANCED TOURER CONCEPT will deliver performance and fuel efficiency thanks to a hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.6L, direct-injected, turbocharged Boxer engine with Subaru's Hybrid Electric motor, not to mention a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission and Subaru's famous symmetrical all-wheel drive system.

This new hybrid wagon has an EV mode for zero-emission start-ups and low-speed drives. Also, when decelerating, a regenerative system will charge the lithium-ion battery.

That being said, expect the production BRZ to steal the spotlight from the SUBARU ADVANCED TOURER CONCEPT. It is, after all, one of the most – if not the most – anticipated cars of the year, along with its clone, the Toyota FT-86/Scion FR-S.
