Former Formula 1 driver Ukyo Katayama has been rescued alive after going missing whilst climbing Mt Fuji in his native Japan.
It was reported that the 46-year-old driver called Shizuoka prefecture police after one of his companions died and the other was "in danger" in high winds and freezing temperatures.
The former Minardi and Tyrrell driver, whose tent had blown away, was found alive on Japan's highest mountain by a rescue team.
Former Formula 1 driver Ukyo Katayama has been rescued from the slopes of Japan's Mount Fuji at an altitude of about 2,200m on the 3,776m mountain, but two of his climbing companions are feared dead.
Katayama told reporters he was "all right", but two others are missing feared dead in harsh weather.
The temperature was reported to be -25 C.
After his F1 career, Katayama switched to rallying before taking up his love of climbing. He has scaled the summits of Mt McKinley, Kilimanjaro and a number of Himalayan peaks.
