This very informative video shows Neil Crompton and Mark Larkham showing you the details of getting an Australian V8 Supercar off the line at the start of the race.
The video takes you onboard the car at the 1:57 mark.
V8 Supercars is a touring car racing category based in Australia.
The V8 Supercars themselves take as their basis either the Ford Falcon or Holden Commodore. Although they bear some resemblance to the production models outwardly, they undergo a high degree of modification to suit the motorsport application.
Competitors build cars from space frame construction. They must have a front-engine design and rear-wheel drive. Every car uses either a 5.0L Ford "Boss 302" SVO or a 5.0L Chevrolet small block race-engine capable of producing 600 bhp in race trim. Engines have pushrod actuated valves and electronic fuel injection. The cars are shod on Dunlop "control tyres".
Several international champions, including Canadian Jacques Villeneuve and Alex Tagliani, recently competed in the Gold Coast 600 event of the Supercar series.
