In America, that is
According to an unnamed German magazine, Volkswagen may be considering the production of the Tiguan in the US.

Barely a week after the official opening of VW's squeaky new plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, rumours are circulating that the North American market could be getting its Tiguans from... North America. Presently, it is manufactured at Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant Germany.

For the moment, the new 2012 Passat will be assembled here. This we are certain of.

As you may or may not know, the Passat wagon is no more on our Continent. At around the time the new Passat was being unveiled in Detroit during the big show, speculation had already begun as to what else was going to be produced at Chattanooga. Some said that a Venza-like Passat-based crossover was to be built there. Nothing further has come of that to date.

Today and according to this story, it may be that the popular Tiguan will warm up the assembly line until something else comes down the pipeline.

Either that or it will be assembled at Puebla, in Mexico, along side the MKVI Jetta.
