For Europe and the rest of the world in the same time periods, VW's profits went to E768 million from E1.04 billion, on sales that dropped from E16.02 billion to E14.7 billion.
Put another way, Canada and the US provided VW with about a third of its profits while only accounting for about a quarter of its sales in the first three months of the year.
