The Victoria Day Speedfest at Mosport International Raceway was an occasion for the World Championship drivers to improve their positions in the standing during this third race weekend of a season that counts eight in 2010.

The two 30-laps races portrayed interesting results in Mosport. Randy Pobst led a flag-to-flag victory in his Volvo S60 on Saturday, but only finished 2.532 seconds ahead of his teammate, local driver and Long Beach winner Kuno Wittmer.

Both winner Pobst and third place finisher Patrick Lindsey profited from Andy Pilgrim’s transmission cooler leak. Pobst benefited from Wittmer and Pilgrim’s battle at the beginning of the race to increase his lead. As for Lindsey, he inherited the third place from the driver when he was forced to retire.

Sunday’s race was a completely different matter with Ron Fellows taking a flight – in this case several – to make his way back from Laguna Seca in time for this World Challenge race. The ‘Mayor of Mosport’, as he is nicknamed, did not disappoint with yet another victory on the Ontario track.

Starting from second, Fellows quickly made it to the lead and let Pobst and Wittmer battle for second. Jason Daskalos was ultimately able to get the best out of Wittmer that was happy of his weekend despite no added victory.

In GTS, John Heinricy took Saturday’s victory en-route for another one on Sunday. Both races had the same podium: Heinricy followed by Tyle McQuarrie and Peter Cunningham.

The Touring class was highly disputed with different podiums on Saturday and Sunday. Chip Herr finished in front of Tom Lepper and Eric Meyer on the first round and Robert Stout had the best of the second, followed by Herr and Robb Holland.
