American driver Alexander Rossi confirmed Saturday he will be driving in the World Series by Renault in 2011. The 2010 GP3 driver will take a ride from Team Fortec Motorsports this year.
The driver had debuted in the series in Monaco last year and gave an impressive performance during the post seasons tests in Aragon, Spain, where he toped the time sheets.
The Daventry, UK, based Fortec Motorsports team is a multiple Championship winning team that has competed in Formula 3, Formula 3000, Formula Renault, Formula BMW and more recently Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
As for Rossi, he finished fourth in the GP3 championship in 2010. He has also competed in Formule BMW Americas - [link artid"102577"]2008 Champion[/link] - earlier in his career. He is currently in Austria as a finalist for the FIA Young Driver Excellence Award Shootout.
Now entering its seventh season, the Formula Renault 3.5 Series will feature 13 teams and twenty-six drivers in 2011.
Formula 1 drivers Sebastian Vettel (2010 Champion), Robert Kubica, Jaime Alguersuari and Pastor Maldonado have all raced in this series in the past.
