Mikko Hirvonen will try harder to collect wins in 2010, so to make sure not to repeat the same disappointing finish he experienced in 2009 when he lost the championship to Sebastien Loeb... by one point!
"Now I'm thinking I don't want to lose it again," he told autosport. "I'm just going to win it or bin it on every rally and see what happens."
Hirvonen explained that he lost the championship to Loeb because the six times champion won seven rallies, whereas he took four. Loeb's three "mistakes", as Hirvonen calls them, could have bottered him, but overall, wins were enough to be crowned once again.
The driver added that the team will have to play tactics like Citroen does if they want to win the championship.
"Citroen play tactics many times and they get many, many points by doing that, but in the end nobody cares, they are the champions after the season and that's it," he said.
Overall, we could say Hirvonen made one big resolution for 2010: "be more brave on small change in the car."
