WRC: Sébastien Loeb closes in on Mexico Rally victory

Sébastien Loeb (Citroën DS3) pulls away in front at the end of second day of Rally Mexico, ahead of his teammate Mikko Hirvonen.

On Friday, the work Citroën DS3 moved up to the lead after both work Ford Fiestas suffered several issues, with a double puncture for Petter Solberg and a suspension failure for Jari-Matti Latvala. On Saturday, the Ford drivers had a great catch up, with Latvala getting closer to Mikko Hirvonen’s second place, before the Finn lost a further 50 seconds after he hit a rock in ESS15.

On Saturday evening, Loeb held the lead, 36 seconds ahead of teammate Mikko Hirvonen, and respectively 1min53s and 2min10s ahead of Latvala and Solberg.

Mads Ostberg is fifth aboard his private Ford Fiesta.
