Although he started in first position all day, Sebastien Loeb (Citroen DS3) was able to maintain his lead in Rally Italia Sardegna after day 2.
The reigning world champion contained Mikko Hirvonen (Ford Fiesta), who regain 25 seconds on Saturday, to finish the day with a 28,3 second handicap. The Finn leads the second factory DS3 driven by Sébastien Ogier, who took one position since Friday.
Again, Petter Solberg (Citroen DS3) suffered a puncture, which cost him time, and made him drop down from 2nd to 4th overall at the end of day 2, 39,5 seconds behind leader. Mads Ostberg (Ford Fiesta Stobbart) was fifth ahead of the first Mini John Cooper Works WRC driven by Dani Sordo.
