GP3 series’ driver Rio Haryanto has earned a test drive in a Virgin Racing VR-01 Cosworth Formula 1 car at the end of the year.
This opportunity has been offered by Virgin Racing team at the beginning of the season to the driver that finished highest in the GP3 Series in a Manor Racing entered car.
The 17-year-old driver, who clinched the Formula BMW Asia title last year with 11 wins, ranked 6th in final GP3 classification this year, with a win in Turkey and several podium finishes.
He is to be the first Indonesian driver to drive a Formula 1. The test will probably take place in Abu Dhabi, at the end of the season.
