An article at SpeedTV.com wonders aloud about the IRL's recent statement that the series is only interested in sanctioning the Long Beach Grand Prix source: paddocktalk.com It goes on to suggest something previously mentioned here on the pages of
PaddockTalk. The article states, "It is believed that a group headed by former
Champ Car team owner Barry Green -- who promoted the recent IRL St. Petersburg
race -- is also taking a look at Long Beach on the IRL's behalf." This would be no surprise in our opinion. And even if Andretti Green Promotions doesn't bid on the event, a bid could come from an entirely separate group. Dover Downs will have to answer to stockholders if they don't open up the
process to ALL possible suitors and maximize the return.
